Camp Millionaire comes to Canada
New camp concept teaches financial literacy to kids

Toronto, June 26, 2008 – Camp Millionaire, a summer program for 9 to 14 year olds, teaches campers about making, managing and multiplying money – just the kind of information they’ll need if they want to be the next Donald Trump.

Using interactive games, activities and field trips, campers learn the principles of creating financial freedom. Camp Millionaire teachers emphasize basic and immediately useful money management principles suitable for junior high and high school education levels. Campers also explore cultural beliefs about money and how to grow up financially independent, including creating multiple income streams and managing expenses. They learn about different types of bank accounts, how to prepare budgets, how to create personal financial statements and how to start a saving/investment program.

“The camp schedule includes four days of classroom instruction with lively, interactive participation games and activities, followed by a Friday field trip to local businesses including a stock brokerage, a real estate firm and a bank,” said Kelly Allaire, Seneca Camps Coordinator. “Students have the opportunity to see firsthand how businesses operate and ask professionals questions relating to the principles they have learned in camp.”

In the summer of 2002, 39 kids attended the first ever Money Camp (called Camp Millionaire in Canada) for Kids in California. This marks the first time that Camp Millionaire will be hosted in Canada. Camp Millionaire was brought to Canada by Jorge Ramos of Financial Intelligence Inc., a Toronto-based company dedicated to giving people the confidence and ability to do anything.

"These camps really have an impact on kids,” said Jorge Ramos of Financial Intelligence Inc. “When they learn to handle money well, they are more confident and able to tackle all of life’s challenges.”

Seneca Summer Camps will host Camp Millionaire for campers 9-14 years of age for seven one week sessions running July 7th to August 22nd. More than 100 campers are already registered for the camp this summer.
